Dogsledding in Kiruna
This has to be one of the most fantastic experiences of my life. I have always wanted to go dogsledding, as I have grown up with Huskies my entire life (miss ya C-Unit). Anyway, as soon as I heard there was an opportunity to do it in Kiruna, I jumped at the opportunity. The entire experience lived up to every single expectation that I had and then some. Our guide Mikael, was nice enough to even let me drive the sled. You never really get a sense of how powerful Huskies are until you strap yourself onto a sled with 8 of them who are just waiting to run off into the woods. To start, you have to yell "Gappo!!" which is Swedish for "go forward" I think. After that, you have to hang on or your going ass over tea kettle off the back. So cool.....
Me, Mikael and some Belgians that were with us on our sled. They were going to school in Uppsala (check out some pics from there in one of my other posts)

This is our sled (sledge as they call it there for some reason). It was covered in Reindeer fur and pretty comfy actually..

Bloody Germans..........always sticking together and wanting to wear the exact same style of clothing......I just dont understand

One of the dogs on another team......I think his name was Balto and to quote his owner: "he is a huge pain in the ass." He wouldnt stop jumping and barking before we left since he was so eager. I have never seen an animal so anxious to do something other than, ahem, have a dump.

Mikael; this time he is trying to arrange the dogs. He told me it is like a puzzle when arranging the teams. Each dog has a different personality and only runs well with certain others.....

Half way through the trip we stopped at a camp in the middle of the forest and had a lunch. I took the time to take some pics with our lead dogs now.........

This is our lunch camp........basically just a pit with a fire in the middle......but, apparetly the guy in the green jacket actually lives our there......cool dude

Mikael once again. This time he is preparing a lunch of potatoes, lingonberries and reindeer meet, all of which was very good. I couldnt help but have seconds..........

The rest are just some pics from the view of our sled (insert jaw dropping expression here)..........

Just thought I would throw in one last pic. The dogs were so cool to be around the entire time. It was almost like you share in their excitement before you take off with them. The entire experience was amazing and I have to do it again. Cody, it is never too late for you to learn!!!
